It’s time for an Omani mountain adventure this National Day holiday!

From clipping into the via ferrata high above the cliffs of Jabal Akhdar and exploring the terraced Three Villages Trail, to abseiling, swimming and scrambling through Wadi Masdarah, and wandering the ancient forts and souqs of Nizwa, this is the perfect escape for the long weekend.

Think adrenaline by day and comfort by night. No camping, no roughing it. Just five days of adventure, easy hikes, refreshing swims, incredible scenery and slow mountain evenings filled with laughter, stories and bonfires under the stars.

We’ll take in the dramatic canyons and lush green terraces of Oman’s Jabal Akhdar, challenge ourselves just enough, switch off from everyday life, and make the kind of memories we’ll still be talking about long after the holiday is over.

Itinerary

Day 1: Dubai –> Nizwa

Meet in Dubai in the morning, load up and set off together for Oman. With playlists on, snacks packed and approximately six hours on the road, the adventure officially begins.

Arrive in Nizwa in the afternoon, check into the hotel and take some time to freshen up and settle in.

DAY 2: Via Ferrata, Zipline & Three Villages Trail

Start with a hearty breakfast before our 4x4s arrive to take us high into the mountains of Jabal Akhdar.

Strap in, because we’re starting with one of the biggest adrenaline hits of the trip: a guided Via Ferrata and zipline experience, climbing across the dramatic cliffs with our local mountain guides alongside us every step of the way.

Afterwards, we’ll stop for a well-earned bites and refuel before slowing things down for the stunning Three Villages Trail, winding through ancient mud-brick villages, rose terraces, traditional falaj channels and spectacular mountain scenery.

We’ll check into our mountain hotel, freshen up and head to Diana’s Point for sunset before settling in for the evening.

DAY 3: Wadi Masdarah Canyoning Adventure

Fuel up over breakfast because today is our full-on canyon adventure.

With local guides leading the way, we’ll head into Wadi Masdarah for a day of hiking, scrambling, abseiling and, conditions permitting, swimming through natural pools while discovering hidden corners of the canyon.

Water levels will depend on the weather, but wet or dry, expect an incredible journey through towering rock walls and some of Oman’s most dramatic landscapes.

After lunch, we’ll head towards Wadi Bani Habib for a short walk through its abandoned old village before returning to the hotel for a hot shower and a much-earned relaxed evening.

DAY 4: Mountain Morning → Nizwa, Misfat, Forts & Souqs

Today starts slow. No ropes, harnesses or canyons. Just breakfast, fresh mountain air and time to enjoy the views before we begin our journey back down towards Nizwa.

We’ll explore the atmospheric mountain village of Misfat Al Abriyeen, walking beneath date palms and alongside its traditional falaj irrigation channels.

After lunch, we continue to Nizwa to explore the iconic Nizwa Fort, take in the views from its enormous circular tower and wander through the colourful lanes and souqs of the old city.

Then it’s back to the hotel to freshen up before our final evening together.

DAY 5: Nizwa → Dubai

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast together before packing up and beginning the journey back to Dubai.

Five days later, we’ll head home with tired legs, full camera rolls, new friendships and plenty of stories.

Getting There

Grasp The Adventure will provide transportation from a designated meet-up point in Dubai to Oman and back. If you prefer to drive your own car, you’re welcome to do so. Just make sure your vehicle is not under finance/loan and that you arrange the required vehicle insurance for driving in Oman before the trip.

Cancellation Policy

1. Client Cancellations

A deposit of AED 500 is required upon booking to secure your spot.
15 days or more before the trip: A full refund of the deposit will be issued.
Within 15 days of the trip: No refunds will be issued.

2. Grasp the Adventure Cancellations

Grasp the Adventure LLC reserves the right to modify, postpone, reschedule, or cancel any event due to weather, safety concerns, low participant numbers, government restrictions, force majeure, natural disasters, or other circumstances beyond its control.
If a trip is cancelled by the organizers, participants will be offered their choice of:
- A full refund; OR
- A credit towards a future trip.
Exclusions: Refunds cover trip costs only and will not cover third-party expenses incurred by participants (e.g., flights, visas, personal accommodation, transportation, insurance, or equipment purchases).
